Zhu Bajie originally belongs to Professor Juniper and was to be given to new trainers that came to her lab in Nuvema Town. However, time and time again, Zhu Bajie was never picked and Snivy and Oshawott were often picked over him. This resulted in some what of a depression and diminishing confidence in his abilities. When Ayden arrived in Nuvema Town, Zhu saw her and believed that she was the trainer for him and ran off from the lab to follow her, joining her team soon after.

Under her care, Zhu eventually evolved into Pignite and again into Emboar.

He was primarily used by Ayden during her time in Unova and now currently resides in her home in Phenac City. At home, he often trains with his best friends, Blaze and Sun, who are also fire fighting Pokémon.
